British National Security Advisor meets Interior Minister

British National Security Advisor, Sir Kim Darroch met Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan here today. UK’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Mr. Philip Barton was also present during the meeting. The Minister said that Pakistan has adopted a holistic regional approach by following a non-partisan policy in Afghanistan as well as improving relations with India. He said that Pakistan and Afghanistan have to work together, with the support of international community, for ensuring peace and stability in the post-2014 Afghanistan. Talking about Pakistan-UK relations, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that these ties are special and this government is committed to further strengthening them in all fields particularly in sectors like counter terrorism, human trafficking, transnational crime and capacity building of security agencies. He said the government has initiated the dialogue process with the Taliban with an earnest desire to bring peace in the country. He said there should not only be peace within but also peace without and no area of Pakistan would be allowed to be used for exporting terrorism. He said it is the policy of the government that the soil of Pakistan should not be used for exporting terrorism abroad. Sir Darroch said the British government is committed to providing more support to Pakistan, in all fields particularly countering terrorism. He said Pakistan and the UK have similar priorities with regards to Afghanistan. He also expressed British government’s best wishes for success of ongoing dialogue process.He said that UK supports Pakistan’s new National Internal Security Policy and appreciates the efforts of the government in tackling security related issues.
